Which Mattress Should You Buy?
While the Douglas Mattress has a lower price point, we found the materials used to be less durable, resulting in quicker wear and tear - not ideal for a long-term investment in your sleep! Upon analysis, it also disappointed in terms of support and breathability. Many sleepers found it too soft, raising questions about effective spinal support, and its foam has limited airflow, which translates into a warmer sleeping experience. Another downside is Douglas’s return policy. It stipulates that you must wait 21 days to complete your return and also rewrap it in plastic for the return to be accepted. You may find this to be a bit of a hassle, especially if you decide quickly that this mattress doesn’t meet your expectations.
With all that factored in, the Endy Mattress is our clear top pick for the higher quality and overall superior results when comparing these two.

1. Endy Comfort Foam Layer
As the name suggests, this layer was designed with comfort top of mind. It cradles your body gently to relieve pressure points without sacrificing on support. In addition, open-cell technology provides airflow allowing body heat to dissipate easily, rather than lingering while you’re trying to doze off. Lastly, it’s infused with cooling gel for a comfortable feel.
2. Transition Layer
This layer of responsive polyfoam holds you up and supports your back, so you can sink into sleep without sinking into your mattress. It’s also responsible for eliminating motion transfer, so you don’t feel your partner’s movements throughout the night.
3. Support Foam
Offering a solid base for the entirety of the mattress, the bottom layer is made of high-density foam to provide a stable base.

1. Cooling Gel Foam Layer
This cooling foam top layer offers an alternative to traditional memory foam, which tends to retain heat.
(Fun fact: Did you know that cooling gel only creates a cool feeling when you first lay down, but won’t maintain it through the night? While it’s a great feature, the most important thing to look for in a foam mattress is open-cell technology, which allows heat to escape the mattress for a consistently cool feeling all night.)

The middle layer mimics a natural latex foam in support and responsiveness, providing what you’d expect from an all-foam mattress.
3. Motion Isolation Support Foam Layer
The bottom layer is designed to reduce motion transfer, although it doesn’t fully eliminate it – more on that later.
You’ve probably noticed the Endy and Douglas mattresses are each constructed of three foam layers – one of their predominant similarities. However, our testing found the materials in the Douglas to be less durable against long-term compression and abrasion, so they’ll break down faster over time. Douglas’ lower price point likely reflects the lower quality materials used in each layer.
They’ve also ranked themselves at a 6.5 on the firmness scale, although through our testing, we found the Douglas Mattress closely matched a 6/10 rating. We attribute this softer feel to the Elastex® Foam, which feels similar to latex. Studies have shown that a truly medium-firm mattress improves sleep quality and may help in preventing back aches. If a mattress is too soft, your hips and shoulders will sink into it, causing unfavorable spine positioning – ouch.
On the other hand, we found the Endy Mattress to be the perfect level of firmness to help you maintain a neutral spine throughout the night. We can tell the materials used are durable and high-quality, making it a worthwhile investment for your sleep. Its Comfort Foam relieves pressure points and provides a cool sleep surface for a pleasant sensation as you’re drifting off. For these reasons, Endy is the better choice to have a good sleep for years to come.

Motion Transfer
The motion transfer refers to how much motion on one side of the mattress is likely to be felt by the person sleeping on the other side. While all-foam mattresses tend to be better at alleviating motion transfer overall, between these two foam options, the Endy Mattress came out ahead of the Douglas Mattress. It eliminates motion transfer well, so if the person (or pet) you’re sharing a bed with moves during the night, it won’t disrupt your beauty sleep. With the Douglas, there was still motion that could disturb your rest, especially if you tend to be a lighter sleeper.

After testing both the Endy Mattress and the Douglas Mattress, the Endy Mattress came out on top as the better all-foam mattress.
While the mattresses may share a similar all-foam structure, the Endy Mattress offers superior benefits and overall quality based on the criteria we looked at. Its firmness is better suited to provide proper spine support, its open-cell foam delivers far better breathability, and it completely eliminates motion transfer!
By contrast, the Douglas Mattress may be a bit too soft for your back, the foam isn’t as breathable, and it didn’t eliminate motion transfer as well. Its lower price tag may be appealing, but because it’s less durable, it may need to be replaced sooner.

Douglas, however, reportedly often has shipping delays and is harder to get a hold of in the case of any issues. While it has an extended trial period of 365 days, returns are actually only permitted after night 21 of trying the mattress. The mattress must also be rewrapped in its original plastic to return, or a new cover must be purchased for the pickup process.
