Product Research: Our Process

At Best Sleep Society, we carefully analyze mattress features to understand how they affect sleep quality. Our research process helps us evaluate comfort, support, and durability. This guide provides insight into how we assess the sleep experience.
Evaluating Comfort and Support
Our marking matrix is a detailed scoring system that evaluates each mattress based on critical aspects like comfort, support, durability, and temperature regulation. Expert sleep testers conduct an extensive analysis that considers various body types and sleep positions, ensuring comprehensive and relevant ratings for a wide audience.
Long-Term Performance Assessment
As mattresses age, they may undergo wear and tear, potentially affecting their initial comfort and support. To address this, our long-term analysis includes feedback from users who have slept on the mattresses for extended periods. This allows us to evaluate how well the products perform in real-world use and whether they maintain their shape, support, and overall quality over time.
Why We Look at Additional Services
In addition to our in-house tests and analysis, we thoroughly evaluate customer service, warranty policies, and setup and delivery ease. These factors play a crucial role in overall consumer satisfaction. A positive experience from purchase to longevity reflects a brand's commitment to quality and customer care, completing our comprehensive product research approach.

3. 1.5” Premium Memory Foam

4. 6.5” ProSupport Memory Foam
The base layer of the mattress is constructed with durable memory foam that helps retain the structure of the mattress for long-lasting support.

Comfort

The Casper mattress is known for its comfort factor, as confirmed by our in-house testing. The mattress has high-quality memory foam to create an ideal sleeping environment that offers spot-on contouring and support for the body. Key areas such as the neck, shoulders, back, and hips can experience excellent pressure and pain relief from this mattress, ensuring rejuvenating sleep. The stretchable, snug cover provides a soft-to-the-touch sleeping surface, while the high-quality memory foams soothe you to sleep as they cradle your body.

Firmness

Mattress firmness is an important decision-making factor for many. The Casper ranks 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale, classifying it as a true medium-firm mattress. This firmness provides great comfort and support for a wide range of sleeping positions. Strict side sleepers or heavier individuals can also explore Casper’s softer and firmer mattress options that better cater to their sleep.

Motion Transfer

While minor motion transfer is noticeable, The Casper still performed well during tests evaluating surface movement. The Casper did a fairly good job of absorbing the motion, scoring an 8 out of 10 on our motion isolation performance scale. For those who share their bed with a partner, this mattress can still transfer slight movement as commonly seen on many memory foam mattresses. However, if you’re a deep sleeper, the motion isolation on The Casper is more than adequate for a restful sleep.

Cooling

Due to the improved airflow and breathability in the mattress, there is minimal heat or sweat retention on this mattress; however, there is no layer or feature specifically catered to cooling in this mattress. Hot sleepers who require extra cooling capabilities from their mattress can opt for other Casper mattresses designed for optimal cooling such as the Casper Snow and Casper Wave Hybrid Snow mattresses.

Edge Support

The Casper Mattress offers great edge support, ensuring you a restful sleep even closer to the edge of the mattress. Individuals can lie or sit comfortably on the edge of the bed without falling or slipping off, as the ProSupport Foam reinforces long-lasting support overall, and the high-quality construction prevents sinking and sagging.

Sinkage and Responsiveness

There is low sinkage on The Casper, making it easy to get in and out of bed. This mattress is highly responsive and offers supportive body contouring due to the full memory foam build, resulting in quick recovery from body weight and any sinkage. Overall, this mattress has adequate support for a range of sleepers, but side sleepers or those looking for a more plush feel may want to invest in a softer mattress.

How does it suit different sleeping positions?

Side Sleepers

As side sleepers require more cushioning around their neck and shoulder area, memory foams are better catered to them. The Casper is most suitable for side sleepers as it outlines the natural curves of their body while delivering pressure relief for key areas. The Casper also does a stellar job of keeping your spine neutral and aligned by offering support where needed.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers seek optimal spinal alignment and good responsiveness to their body, as well as targeted support and pressure relief. With the right balance of these attributes, The Casper offers excellent comfort for back sleepers for a night of worry-free sleep. This mattress is a great investment with optimal spinal alignment and even weight distribution for a back sleeper, while the medium-firmness is soft enough to cushion their pressure points but firm enough to offer the support they need.

Stomach Sleepers

Although this mattress has enough firmness to support a stomach sleeper while contouring their body, it is not the most ideal choice as the potential sinkage of their hips may feel uncomfortable. This causes more compression around the chest area and cranes the neck into a painful position. It is recommended to invest in The Casper’s hybrid counterpart, the Casper Original Hybrid mattress with more firmness and support compared to The Casper.

Combination Sleepers

Those who toss and turn and change their sleeping position often may find this mattress to be comfortable and supportive. The foam composition is designed for all sleepers – stomach, back, or a bit of both – looking for pressure relief, with balanced support and comfort.

Lightweight Sleepers

All lightweight sleepers will find this mattress to be a great choice as it helps optimal spinal alignment and offers the sweet-spot firmness they look for.

Heavy People

The Casper provides great support for a range of sleepers. However, all-memory foam mattresses can be hyper-adaptive to heavier bodies, and in trying to provide spinal alignment and ergonomic support, cause a sleeper to sink deeper in the surface in comparison to a hybrid or traditional coil mattress. For this reason, we recommend those who love The Casper mattress consider a hybrid model, such as the Casper Atlas Hybrid

Should You Buy The Casper?

If you’re a side, back, or a combination sleeper, The Casper offers a comfortable, supportive sleeping environment to rest your best. Our in-house sleep trials proved this mattress walks the walk, having impressive results across all our tests. With great durability from high-quality materials and construction, this mattress is bound to make your sleep journey enjoyable.

For the mid-range price point, The Casper shines as the superior choice compared to similarly-priced competitors such as Douglas Summit, Puffy Cloud, Emma Hybrid, and Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress.
