Product Research: Our Process

At Best Sleep Society, we carefully analyze mattress features to understand how they affect sleep quality. Our research process helps us evaluate comfort, support, and durability. This guide provides insight into how we assess the sleep experience.
Evaluating Comfort and Support
Our marking matrix is a detailed scoring system that evaluates each mattress based on critical aspects like comfort, support, durability, and temperature regulation. Expert sleep testers conduct an extensive analysis that considers various body types and sleep positions, ensuring comprehensive and relevant ratings for a wide audience.
Long-Term Performance Assessment
As mattresses age, they may undergo wear and tear, potentially affecting their initial comfort and support. To address this, our long-term analysis includes feedback from users who have slept on the mattresses for extended periods. This allows us to evaluate how well the products perform in real-world use and whether they maintain their shape, support, and overall quality over time.
Why We Look at Additional Services
In addition to our in-house tests and analysis, we thoroughly evaluate customer service, warranty policies, and setup and delivery ease. These factors play a crucial role in overall consumer satisfaction. A positive experience from purchase to longevity reflects a brand's commitment to quality and customer care, completing our comprehensive product research approach.

Purchasing and Returns

The Casper Atlas Hybrid mattress is available for purchase online on casper.ca, and Casper Canada stores coast to coast. Unboxing and First Impressions

The Casper Atlas Hybrid mattress arrives at your doorstep compressed in a box and wrapped in plastic similar to other bed-in-a-box models. Due to its weight, we recommend unwrapping it in a spacious area and letting the mattress come to life. The mattress will be ready to sleep on right away but we recommend letting it expand for 48 hours for ideal comfort. Our first impression? A thoughtfully designed mattress with a high-quality look, and the unboxing was quick and hassle-free!

Construction

1. Cozy Knit Removable Cover
The cozy cover of Atlas Hybrid is extremely stretchy, elevating your comfort and providing a snug, cradling feel.

2. 1.5” Casper Signature Foam
The Atlas Hybrid features Casper’s signature foam that is built to give you a soothing feel through breathable foam while giving you that desirable bounce you seek from a high-quality mattress.

3. 1.5” High-Quality Transition Foam
This layer is designed for extra cushioning between the mattress’s top layer and flex coils to deliver plush comfort and smooth transitioning.

4. 6” Flex Coils with Casper Edge SupportThese individually pocketed coils deliver unparalleled support including your lumbar region and superior responsiveness for your body.

5. 1” ProSupport Foam

This foundational foam is behind the long-lasting support of the mattress and prevents sagging and too much sinking for a balanced feel with spinal alignment.

Comfort

Every layer of the Atlas Hybrid is designed to deliver exceptional comfort for your body. Our in-house sleep tests revealed the overall supportiveness and sleep experience rivalled some of the most luxurious and high-end mattresses we’ve tested, making it a standout at a competitive price point. Additionally, some of our tests evaluated how this mattress addressed a variety of common complaints, and we found the Atlas to be one of the best mattresses for back pain, thanks to its outstanding pain and pressure relief.

Firmness

Mattress firmness is a key area to always watch for, and Casper Atlas Hybrid does not disappoint. With a 6.5 sweet spot on the firmness scale, this one is a true medium-firm mattress that offers the most balanced feel. Thus, the Atlas Hybrid can cater to many sleeping positions and weights, providing a universally appealing sleeping experience.

Motion Transfer

If you share your bed with someone, it can be frustrating to always feel their movements and lose sleep over it. Casper Atlas Hybrid does a good job of isolating motion to ensure a restful night’s sleep for you or those who share your bed.

Cooling

While the Casper Atlas Hybrid does not feature the brand’s signature Snow™ technology, we did not feel like this detracted from its cooling properties. While extremely hot sleepers may prefer one of Casper’s mattresses with Snow Technology™, the Atlas dissipates heat well and is great for those who sleep temperate or cold. Hot sleepers should consider the Casper Snow or Wave Hybrid Snow, as they are specifically engineered for enhanced cooling.

Edge Support

Casper’s proprietary edge support ensures stability on the edges of the mattress, preventing individuals from slipping or falling off. Sitting or lying down, the mattress seemed to support the body weight well, maintaining the structural integrity. This is also a testament to the durable, high-quality construction of the Casper mattress range.

Sinkage and Responsiveness

Although this mattress is a medium-firm hybrid mattress, the memory foam top provides some body contouring and bounce. However, the extremely fast response time on the mattress prevents feeling “stuck”, a sensation commonly associated with memory foam mattresses. Some heavier individuals tend to prefer a mattress with a firmer top, as they will experience deeper sinkage, for them, we’d recommend the Casper Dawn Extra Firm mattress.

How does it suit different sleeping positions?

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers can benefit from the mattress’s exceptional zoned coil support married with the memory foam’s pressure relief for a revitalizing night’s sleep. The cushioning for your neck, shoulders, and hips will be similar to what you’d experience in a full-foam mattress, but with added support from the flex coils of this hybrid.

Back Sleepers

If you’re a back sleeper, this mattress can alleviate pains and provide optimal comfort, as the flex coils and high-quality foam join forces to provide a balanced, Goldilocks feel. Consider this a crowd-pleasing mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Although the bounce level and sinkage of this mattress may appeal to all other sleeping positions, stomach sleepers can feel some discomfort. We recommend Casper Original Hybrid and its other hybrid models for stomach sleepers, as it has reinforced support designed with stomach sleepers in mind.

Combination Sleepers

If you’re a combination sleeper who switches between side and back sleeping, this mattress is a great find. With ample support, pressure relief, and ease of motion, you’re bound to fall asleep and fall in love with this mattress.

Lightweight Sleepers

All lightweight sleepers will find this mattress to be a great choice as it helps optimal spinal alignment and offers the sweet-spot firmness they look for.

Heavy People

The Atlas Hybrid supports a range of weights. While it suits heavier individuals, those who prefer a firmer mattress can also consider the Casper Dawn Extra Firm mattress.

Should You Buy the Casper Atlas Hybrid?

Casper Atlas Hybrid is a great bang for a buck for anyone looking for a budget-friendly hybrid mattress in Canada. With stellar support for your back, optimal spinal alignment and pressure relief for pain-free sleep, and high-quality construction that lasts for a long time, this mattress can be an excellent choice for many.

We have compared this mattress to its competitors in the market such as Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid, Emma Hybrid, and Puffy Cloud, and discovered that Casper Atlas Hybrid excels in affordability without compromising on quality.
