Product Research: Our Process

At Best Sleep Society, we carefully analyze mattress features to understand how they affect sleep quality. Our research process helps us evaluate comfort, support, and durability. This guide provides insight into how we assess the sleep experience.
Evaluating Comfort and Support
Our marking matrix is a detailed scoring system that evaluates each mattress based on critical aspects like comfort, support, durability, and temperature regulation. Expert sleep testers conduct an extensive analysis that considers various body types and sleep positions, ensuring comprehensive and relevant ratings for a wide audience.
Long-Term Performance Assessment
As mattresses age, they may undergo wear and tear, potentially affecting their initial comfort and support. To address this, our long-term analysis includes feedback from users who have slept on the mattresses for extended periods. This allows us to evaluate how well the products perform in real-world use and whether they maintain their shape, support, and overall quality over time.
Why We Look at Additional Services
In addition to our in-house tests and analysis, we thoroughly evaluate customer service, warranty policies, and setup and delivery ease. These factors play a crucial role in overall consumer satisfaction. A positive experience from purchase to longevity reflects a brand's commitment to quality and customer care, completing our comprehensive product research approach.

Construction

1. Knit Cover

It’s extra stretchy, making it cozy and snug.

2. Casper Signature Foam Layer

This breathable layer has tiny perforations all over it (called AirScape™ Technology), to keep you feeling cool and comfy all night.

3. Premium Memory Foam Layer

This stuff is magic. It moulds right to your body, taking the pressure off those spots that sometimes dig into the mattress.

4. ProSupport Foam Layer

The bottom layer is super durable, with no sinking or sagging. Just solid support all around.

Comfort & Performance

Let’s take a look at how The Casper Mattress does in terms of comfort and performance.

I’ll say it right out of the gate: for most sleepers, choosing a mid-firm mattress is like finding the Goldilocks zone. With its 7/10 firmness rating, The Casper is between firm and medium-firm (so perfect for those seeking a bit of extra support).

From our tests, I can confirm that The Casper expertly balances the need for comfort and support, ensuring your spine remains aligned while soothing you to sleep. Side, back, and stomach testers reported getting a restful night’s sleep on this mattress.

Did you know that aligning your neck, shoulders, and hips correctly allows your muscles to fully relax? I see it all the time in my practice. Once people switch to a supportive mattress, they get more restful sleep and reduced aches and pains in the morning. Casper’s top-notch memory foam absorbs pressure points so you shouldn’t wake up with that tight feeling in your hips, back, or shoulders.

And durability? Casper’s got you covered with its ProSupport Foam base layer. It keeps the mattress from sagging, promising many years of sound sleep.

Bounce
The Casper is responsive and fairly bouncy—so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress (a common gripe with memory foam options). Latex and latex-like foams have a unique springy feel that is much bouncier than memory foam, so the combination of both types of foam strikes a good balance between bounce and motion isolation. Whether you like the bounciness of latex foam is a matter of personal preference!

Motion Transfer

One common issue I hear from folks is the distraction caused by their partner’s movements on the bed. Ever tried falling asleep peacefully only to be jolted awake by someone else tossing and turning? That’s where a mattress with zero-motion transfer comes in handy.

A mattress like The Casper absorbs movement rather than letting it ripple across the surface, allowing you to sleep undisturbed. When someone moves on one side of the bed, the high-density memory foam compresses to accommodate that pressure without transmitting it across the mattress.

I must say, I was impressed with The Casper’s ability to provide uninterrupted sleep. The motion control is good, and the exceptional support and comfort minimize any reasons for tossing and turning in the first place. All in all, this mattress is a good choice for light sleepers or anyone sharing a bed.

Breathability

Now let’s talk about my favourite feature of this all-foam mattress: Casper’s AirScape™ Technology.

It’s a fancy name to describe a layer of breathable foam with tiny holes that boost airflow, keeping the heat away and making your sleep cooler. These little perforations also channel away humidity, keeping you comfy all night.

One of the key aspects of improving your sleep is managing your environment’s temperature and humidity. No one likes to wake up drenched in sweat! If you turn into a human furnace at night (or if you sleep next to one), a mattress with breathable features, like The Casper, will make all the difference. And the benefits go beyond feeling comfortable: getting deep, quality sleep will seriously boost your health, mood, and brain power over time.

So, in a nutshell, Casper’s breathable foam technology is a smart choice for anyone wanting to sleep cooler. While memory foam mattresses have a reputation for trapping heat, you shouldn’t have this problem with The Casper.

Conclusion

Since popping onto the scene in 2014, Casper has been a top player in the bed-in-a-box game. They’ve got a cult following in the US and have been making waves in Canada with their innovative mattresses.

The Casper’s support and responsiveness suit all sleeper types, whether you sleep on your stomach, side, or back. Its firmness toes the line between medium-firm to firm, lending extra support for those who need it, while still relieving pressure points for a consistently comfortable sleep in all positions.

It also eliminates motion transfer, for those concerned about their partner disrupting their rest. If your primary consideration is breathability and cooling, it has you covered there with its perforated top layer of foam. The only downside is that its cover isn’t removable, so you’ll need to stick to spot-cleaning it as needed. It’s my top recommendation for sleepers looking for the feel of latex or memory foam, without the overheating risk. If that’s you, definitely give The Casper a try!
