1. GOTS Certified Organic Cotton Cover

The GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton Cover provides a luxurious touch throughout the mattress. 

2. 1” GOTS Certified Wool Quilt Layer

Prized for its natural fire retardant properties and sustainability, this wool quilt layer provides a chemical-free solution for fire protection. Further, the organic properties of the wool act as a permeable layer to promote more airflow to improve the mattress’ breathability and cooling properties. 

3. 0.8” Quilted Latex Layer

A 0.8″ GOLS Certified Latex layer offers additional comfort and support for easy sleep.

4. 1.5” Latex Layer

This 1.5” durable latex layer is sourced from Sri Lanka using the Dunlop method preserves the organic integrity of the mattress. 

5. Zoned Support

The innovative Zoned Support system achieves balanced support across the mattress. There are soft coils on the outer thirds that harmonize with firmer coils on the middle third, promoting optimal spinal alignment.

6. 8” Pocket Coil Base

The 100% Canadian Steel pocketed spring coils deliver responsive support and minimized motion transfer for a peaceful night’s sleep.

7. Firm Edge Support

The brand recently redesigned its Organic Mattress with enhanced edge support around the full perimeter that prevents flattening when sitting on the edge of the bed.

1.2” Quilted Cover

The Avocado website has not declared the materials of the mattress; however, when we cut it open, we noticed there’s a thin 2” layer of quilted cover/ comfort layer. 

 

2. 8” Pocket Coils

The pocket coils offer a decent height for the mattress and are individually wrapped.

 

3. 1” Natural Latex
There is a 1” layer of latex on the mattress to provide sleepers with a comfortable sleep surface

Silk & Snow Organic Mattress
The Silk & Snow Organic Mattress offers a balanced feel of support and comfort, and a sweet spot bounce due to the thick layers of latex. The mattress comes in firm, medium-firm and plush options, making it an easy decision for those who do/do not prefer added cushioning and more contouring. The pressure relief was excellent in all 3 firmnesses, due to the thick comfort layers above the coils. The Silk & Snow Organic excelled in all verticals of comfort, yet again proving its value for money.

Avocado Green Mattress
In comparison, the Avocado Green Mattress fell short in expectations. In our tests, we were disappointed with pressure relief, lack of bounce, and lack of body-contouring feel.

Silk & Snow vs Avocado Mattress: Motion Transfer

If you share a bed with a partner or a pet, motion transfer will be high on your list of considerations when mattress shopping. Mattresses that eliminate motion transfer prevent movement on one side of the mattress from being felt on the other. While all-foam mattresses generally perform well in reducing motion transfer, the Silk & Snow Organic Mattress performed exceptionally well in our tests, while the Avocado Green Mattress fell short.

The Silk & Snow Organic Mattress exceeded expectations in motion isolation. We tested the mattress on several different criteria. When the sleep tester was getting in and out of bed and tossing and turning, the water vessel did not show significant movement.

With that, the breathability of your mattress plays a big role in ensuring your sleep is sufficiently restful.
