Product Research: Our Process

At Best Sleep Society, we carefully analyze mattress features to understand how they affect sleep quality. Our research process helps us evaluate comfort, support, and durability. This guide provides insight into how we assess the sleep experience.
Evaluating Comfort and Support
Our marking matrix is a detailed scoring system that evaluates each mattress based on critical aspects like comfort, support, durability, and temperature regulation. Expert sleep testers conduct an extensive analysis that considers various body types and sleep positions, ensuring comprehensive and relevant ratings for a wide audience.
Long-Term Performance Assessment
As mattresses age, they may undergo wear and tear, potentially affecting their initial comfort and support. To address this, our long-term analysis includes feedback from users who have slept on the mattresses for extended periods. This allows us to evaluate how well the products perform in real-world use and whether they maintain their shape, support, and overall quality over time.
Why We Look at Additional Services
In addition to our in-house tests and analysis, we thoroughly evaluate customer service, warranty policies, and setup and delivery ease. These factors play a crucial role in overall consumer satisfaction. A positive experience from purchase to longevity reflects a brand's commitment to quality and customer care, completing our comprehensive product research approach.
Many mattress shoppers opt for an all-foam mattress, choosing it for its superb comfort at a fair price point. Foam mattresses are also excellent at eliminating motion transfer, and with the right level of firmness, they support your spine well. They’re a great choice for all types of sleepers, such as back sleepers, stomach sleepers, and side sleepers! There are a lot of options available though, so it can be difficult to pick the perfect one for your sleeping needs.

If a memory foam mattress is on your shopping list, you’ve probably looked into The Endy Mattress and The Casper Mattress. Each has its own set of strengths—both are medium-firm and offer comfort and support for a variety of sleeping positions. To help you decide, our team evaluated each one, and we uncovered some helpful results. Continue reading to learn more about these two popular foam mattresses.

Which Mattress Should You Buy?

Throughout our testing, both mattresses held strong across our criteria of comfort and& performance, motion transfer, breathability, edge support and durability. While they share a similar three-layer all-foam construction, their feel and performance offer slightly different sleep experiences.

The Endy Mattress provides a balanced, stable feel with gentle body-contouring that supports a wide range of sleeping positions. Its comfort foam layer is designed to cradle the body without excessive sink, helping promote healthy spinal alignment while minimizing pressure points. This makes it especially appealing to those who prefer a more grounded, supportive surface that still feels plush.

The Casper Mattress combines responsive and contouring foams to create a sleep surface with a bit more bounce than traditional all-foam designs. This slight responsiveness makes it especially appealing to combination sleepers who tend to shift positions throughout the night. With a true medium-firm feel, The Casper strikes a well-balanced blend of pressure relief, support, and comfort, ideal for those seeking both adaptability and all-night stability.

Another similarity in each mattress is itstheir top layer, which uses specific technology to enhance breathability—a crucial consideration for particularly hot sleepers. The Endy Mattress features open-cell foam infused with cooling gel, promoting airflow and helping maintain a comfortably cool sleep surface throughout the night. The Casper Mattress uses perforated foam with the brand’s signature AirScape® Technology to increase breathability and reduce heat retention. Both designs are effective, with each brand offering a unique approach to temperature regulation. We’ll delve into this further.

If back pain is a concern, rest assured that both mattresses offer excellent spinal support. They also relieve pressure points in greater contact areas, such as your hips and shoulders, to prevent overall discomfort. Both the Endy and The Casper mattresses are made with high-quality materials.

Construction

The Endy Mattress

1. Comfort Foam Layer
Endy’s top comfort layer is expertly engineered to deliver a perfect balance of softness and support. It gently contours to your body, relieving pressure at key areas such as your shoulders, hips, and back—helping you relax into deeper, more restful sleep. The open-cell structure enhances airflow, preventing heat from getting trapped, while the cooling gel infusion keeps the surface feeling fresh and comfortable all night long.

2. Transition Layer

This layer of responsive polyfoam adds a subtle lift, ensuring your body stays properly supported without feeling like you’re sinking. It also plays a crucial role in motion isolation—absorbing movement so you won’t be disturbed by a partner shifting or getting up during the night.

3. Support Layer

At the foundation, high-density support foam provides durability and stability, maintaining the mattress’s shape over time while offering consistent, full-body support. This base layer ensures the Endy Mattress stays reliable and comfortable for years and years of use.

The Casper Mattress

1. Eco Knit Cover

The Casper Mattress features a cozy knit cover that’s made from recycled fibres for a sleep that’s soft on the planet and on you.

2. Casper Signature Foam with AirScape® Technology

A responsive layer of Casper Signature Foam is designed to soothe you to sleep with a sweet spot bounce. Meanwhile, what’s unique to The Casper is the fact that this layer is infused with AirScape® Technology, with thousands of perforations to wick awaydispel heat and humidity while you sleep, keeping you at a comfortable temperature all night.

3. Premium Memory Foam

The second layer of foam gently contours to your body in the way high-quality memory foam typically does—cradling your curves and adapting to your unique shape. At the same time, it works to absorb and relieve pressure points, so no matter how you sleep—whether you’re a back sleeper, side sleepers, or stomach sleeper—you’ll still feel comfortably supported throughout the night.

4. ProSupport Foam

Casper’s ProSupport Foam is a firm base layer of foam that provides excellent, long-lasting durability and prevents sinking and sagging of the mattress over time. This layer of foam is what keeps The Casper consistently supportive and comfortable, even after years of nightly use.

As with most all-foam mattresses, the Endy and the Casper each contain three foam layers. Both offer comfort, support, breathability and pressure point relief. A key distinction between the two, is that The Endy Mattress includes a layer specifically designed to eliminate motion transfer. It does this especially well – details on that later.

Another point of differentiation is the firmness: Endy ranks at 6.5/10 on the firmness scale, while Casper comes in at a solid 7. That half point may seem like a small difference, but for the amount of time you spend in bed, it can be an important one! The level of firmness that suits you better will ultimately come down to personal preference. However, it’s important to know medium-firm mattresses have been shown to improve sleep quality and reduce back pain. Endy hits the nail on the head with its level of firmness, while Casper’s 7 rating tips it more towards the “firm” side of the scale.

Endy vs Casper: Comfort & Performance

The Endy Mattress
The Endy Mattress is supportive enough to keep your spine in a healthy, neutral position (no more back aches!), while feeling as comfortable as a luxurious hotel bed. Its pressure point relief feature ensures restful sleep in no matter your sleep position, as you won’t notice any tension where your joints press into the mattress.

The Casper Mattress
In comparison, The Casper Mattress has a highly responsive sleep surface that is comfortable and supportive. It’s engineered to contour your body while offering the perfect bit of bounce. This means that you’ll never feel like you’re sinking into this mattress when you lay on it. It also alleviates pressure points and relieves pain, enabling a deeper, more restful sleep.

Endy vs Casper: Motion Transfer

If you share a bed with a partner or a pet, motion transfer will be high on your list of considerations when mattress shopping. Mattresses that eliminate motion transfer prevent movement on one side of the mattress from being felt on the other. All-foam mattresses usually perform well in this area, and these two are no exception. However, while The Casper Mattress has some bounce to it, our testing revealed that it wasn’t able to completely eliminate motion transfer the way The Endy Mattress does.
The Endy Mattress
The Endy Mattress had very strong results when it came to motion isolation. Its transition layer of foam successfully eliminates motion transfer, absorbing pressure where it’s applied and preventing it from moving across the mattress. Co-sleepers won’t notice their bedmate moving around. During our tests, we noticed little to no movement on the water vessel we placed on the mattress, even while the sleep tester got in and out of bed.

The Casper Mattress
The Casper Mattress’ memory foam layer works very well to reduce motion transfer while the bounciness of the responsive foam means you may feel limited motion, but it is still a fantastic option that blends comfort and support. Our sleep tests showed little movement in the water vessel when the sleep tester got in and out of bed. For light sleepers who prefer superior motion isolation, we recommend Casper Original Hybrid Mattress or Casper Dawn Extra Firm Mattress.

Endy vs Casper: Breathability

While feeling warm and cozy when first getting into bed may seem ideal, a cooler sleeping environment is typically recommended for deeper sleep. With that, the breathability of your mattress plays a big role in ensuring your sleep is sufficiently restful. Breathable mattresses release body heat instead of retaining it, ensuring you stay cool and comfortable.
The Endy Mattress
The Endy Mattress uses open-cell foam to enhance airflow, allowing heat to move freely through the mattress and away from your body. This helps maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature throughout the night, rather than letting heat build up. The top layer is also infused with cooling gel, providing a cool-to-the-touch feel that adds an extra layer of comfort as you fall asleep. If you’re a hot sleeper, you may want to consider the Endy Hybrid mattress as an alternative, as hybrid construction allows more airflow throughout.

The Casper Mattress
The Casper Mattress uses the brand’s AirScape® Technology to channel heat and humidity away from your body as you sleep. A layer of foam with thousands of perforations maximizes breathability, allowing air to move through the mattress, which makes The Casper an excellent choice if you’re a hot sleeper or are simply looking for a high-quality mattress with cooling properties.
