Product Research: Our Process

At Best Sleep Society, we carefully analyze mattress features to understand how they affect sleep quality. Our research process helps us evaluate comfort, support, and durability. This guide provides insight into how we assess the sleep experience.
Evaluating Comfort and Support
Our marking matrix is a detailed scoring system that evaluates each mattress based on critical aspects like comfort, support, durability, and temperature regulation. Expert sleep testers conduct an extensive analysis that considers various body types and sleep positions, ensuring comprehensive and relevant ratings for a wide audience.
Long-Term Performance Assessment
As mattresses age, they may undergo wear and tear, potentially affecting their initial comfort and support. To address this, our long-term analysis includes feedback from users who have slept on the mattresses for extended periods. This allows us to evaluate how well the products perform in real-world use and whether they maintain their shape, support, and overall quality over time.
Why We Look at Additional Services
In addition to our in-house tests and analysis, we thoroughly evaluate customer service, warranty policies, and setup and delivery ease. These factors play a crucial role in overall consumer satisfaction. A positive experience from purchase to longevity reflects a brand's commitment to quality and customer care, completing our comprehensive product research approach.
The Endy Mattress is the clear winner in this comparison. After testing both mattresses thoroughly and considering their construction and performance, we’re confident that the Endy Mattress offers superior comfort, support, and breathability, making it the standout choice for Canadian sleepers. Whether you’re a side sleeper seeking pressure relief or a couple needing undisturbed sleep, Endy’s customizable firmness and thoughtful construction cater to a wide variety of sleep styles. In terms of customer reviews, Endy shines with an impressive 4.9/5 customer rating, showcasing its popularity among Canadian buyers, compared to Nectar’s slightly lower 4.7/5. In our own testing, we also found Endy to outperform Nectar across the board. Finally, as a team of mattress experts and testers based in Canada, we see firsthand the difference that manufacturing in Canada makes in terms of quality, consistency, and durability. Priced at $895 CAD for a medium-firm Queen, the Canadian-made Endy delivers exceptional performance and quality. By comparison, the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress, priced at $599 CAD for a Queen, although cheaper, is made overseas and lacks the same level of quality and adaptability.  With a 100-night risk-free trial, a 10-year warranty, and fast & free delivery options, Endy is the mattress of choice for over one million Canadians.

Which Mattress Should You Buy?

Throughout our testing, both mattresses held strong across our criteria of comfort and& performance, motion transfer, breathability, edge support and durability. While they share a similar three-layer all-foam construction, their feel and performance offer slightly different sleep experiences.

The Endy Mattress provides a balanced, stable feel with gentle body-contouring that supports a wide range of sleeping positions. Its comfort foam layer is designed to cradle the body without excessive sink, helping promote healthy spinal alignment while minimizing pressure points. This makes it especially appealing to those who prefer a more grounded, supportive surface that still feels plush.

The Casper Mattress combines responsive and contouring foams to create a sleep surface with a bit more bounce than traditional all-foam designs. This slight responsiveness makes it especially appealing to combination sleepers who tend to shift positions throughout the night. With a true medium-firm feel, The Casper strikes a well-balanced blend of pressure relief, support, and comfort, ideal for those seeking both adaptability and all-night stability.

Another similarity in each mattress is itstheir top layer, which uses specific technology to enhance breathability—a crucial consideration for particularly hot sleepers. The Endy Mattress features open-cell foam infused with cooling gel, promoting airflow and helping maintain a comfortably cool sleep surface throughout the night. The Casper Mattress uses perforated foam with the brand’s signature AirScape® Technology to increase breathability and reduce heat retention. Both designs are effective, with each brand offering a unique approach to temperature regulation. We’ll delve into this further.

If back pain is a concern, rest assured that both mattresses offer excellent spinal support. They also relieve pressure points in greater contact areas, such as your hips and shoulders, to prevent overall discomfort. Both the Endy and The Casper mattresses are made with high-quality materials.

Construction

The Endy

1. Micro Quilted Cover – The top half of the Endy Mattress features a stretchy, breathable, and machine-washable quilted cover that helps maintain a fresh sleep environment night after night.

2. Endy Comfort Foam – This responsive comfort layer gently cradles and supports the body, distributing your weight evenly to help promote deep and restful sleep. Unlike traditional memory foam, Endy’s open-cell design is infused with cooling gel to prevent overheating, making it a great choice for hot sleepers.

3. Transition Foam – A transition layer designed to enhance comfort while providing superior pressure relief. This layer also eliminates motion transfer, ensuring that movements on one side of the bed don’t disturb a sleeping partner.

4. Support Foam – The high-density base layer delivers long-lasting durability, ensuring the mattress maintains its firmness and structural integrity over time. Endy’s Canadian craftsmanship is evident in the quality and longevity of this supportive foundation.

5. Temperature-Neutral Foam – Unlike some memory foam mattresses that change firmness depending on room temperature, the Endy Mattress maintains a consistent feel throughout all Canadian seasons, providing reliable comfort year-round.

Nectar Memory Foam

1. Breathable Cover
The Nectar Memory Foam features quick-dry polyethylene fibres to wick away moisture.

2. 2” Gel-Infused Memory Foam

This gel-infused layer offers a breathable feel and contributes to the pressure-relieving properties of the mattress.

3. 3” Dynamic Response Layer

This layer caters to maintaining a neutral spine and a responsive feel.

4. 7” Base Layer
The thick base layer is intended to provide support and ensure durability.

5. Shift-Resistant Lower Cover
This cover ensures all layers stay in place and prevents the mattress from developing clumps or sagging.

Nectar claims its mattress has five layers, counting the top and bottom fabric covers as separate layers. In truth, both the Endy and the Nectar have three layers of foam that target cooling, pressure relief, motion control, and spinal alignment.

We gave the Endy Mattress full marks for comfort, durability, and motion isolation. Testers appreciated Endy’s balance of comfort and support, offering cushioning and alleviating pressure points. On the other hand, the Nectar Mattress delivers a somewhat plush experience, with many testers noting its memory foam contours closely to the body. Some reported it lacked the support needed for proper spinal alignment, particularly for back and stomach sleepers. Finally, Endy’s high-density support layer stood out for creating a firmer, more stable base, while Nectar’s shift-resistant bottom was barely noticeable.

Endy vs Nectar: Comfort & Performance

The Endy Mattress
The Endy stands out for its construction and performance, offering three firmness levels to suit various sleep styles. While Endy’s plush option delivers gentle cushioning and pressure relief for side sleepers, the medium-firm and firm levels promote proper spinal alignment for back and stomach sleepers. We were pleasantly surprised by the consistent level of support across all firmness levels. Testers reported that Endy’s foam maintains consistent comfort year-round, thanks to its temperature-neutral properties. We’ve found their Signature Comfort Foam to actively minimize pressure points and promote proper spinal alignment across all sleep positions.

Nectar Memory Foam
Nectar takes a different approach with a single firmness level designed for a medium-plush feel. Its memory foam closely contours to your body, creating a “hugging” sensation that many side sleepers enjoy. While comfortable, its lower-density foam layers may not hold up as well over time, particularly for heavier sleepers. Some testers also reported that the softness contributed to a “stuck-in-the-mattress” sensation for back and stomach sleepers.

Endy vs Nectar: Motion Transfer

If you share a bed with a partner or a pet, motion transfer will be high on your list of considerations when mattress shopping. Mattresses that eliminate motion transfer prevent movement on one side of the mattress from being felt on the other. All-foam mattresses usually perform well in this area, and these two are no exception. However, while The Casper Mattress has some bounce to it, our testing revealed that it wasn’t able to completely eliminate motion transfer the way The Endy Mattress does.
The Endy Mattress
Thanks to its responsive transition foam, the Endy excels at absorbing motion. Whether a partner gets in and out of bed or shifts during the night, you’re unlikely to feel any disturbance. This quality makes it a dependable option for light sleepers or those with kids or pets. Testers praised its stability, noting that motion was barely detectable, even during exaggerated movement simulations.

Since the Nectar mattress has more bounce, some vibrations were observed during tests, particularly when a heavier object was dropped onto the mattress surface, and when the sleep tester got in and out of bed. For those sensitive to movement, this might be a drawback compared to Endy’s seamless performance.

Endy vs Nectar: Breathability

While feeling warm and cozy when first getting into bed may seem ideal, a cooler sleeping environment is typically recommended for deeper sleep. With that, the breathability of your mattress plays a big role in ensuring your sleep is sufficiently restful. Breathable mattresses release body heat instead of retaining it, ensuring you stay cool and comfortable.
The Endy Mattress
A standard airflow test revealed that Endy’s breathable, open-cell foam allowed more air to circulate throughout the mattress. While testers reported an initial feeling of cool comfort on both mattresses (attributed to cooling gel infusions in both the Endy and Nectar), the Endy Mattress was noticeably better at preventing overheating for extended periods of use, including overnight.

Other than the breathable cover, the Nectar Mattress does not feature any cooling-specific technology. However, it did not necessarily overheat.
