Which is better: Endy vs Douglas?

Endy Mattresses have gained rapid popularity in Canada, and for good reason - they’re a great mattress. All-foam mattresses are a popular choice for many looking to upgrade their bed, and rightfully so. They provide exceptional comfort at a reasonable cost, and typically eliminate motion transfer better than their hybrid or spring counterparts. The Endy Original is offered in three firmness levels, comes with an 100-night trial and 15 year warranty, made from CertiPur-US certified layers to an overall indulgent night’s sleep. To us, it impressed across categories across all our tests, leading it to be ranked by testers above the Douglas Original.

Which Mattress Should You Buy?

When evaluating each mattress on comfort and performance, breathability, and motion transfer, the Endy Mattress continued to stand out. With high rankings across the board, this contender proves to be both comfortable and supportive. It ensures optimal spinal support in every sleeping position while cradling sleepers in luxurious cloud-like comfort. It also gained favour among hot sleepers, with its breathable foam creating a cool sleeping environment. Meanwhile, co-sleepers love that it eliminates motion transfer, so that they don’t feel their bedmate rolling around in the night.

While the Douglas Mattress has a lower price point, it disappointed. Our testers felt it was a warmer sleeping experience compared to the Endy mattress, despite using the same set of sheets. Another downside is Douglas’s return policy. It stipulates that you must wait 21 days to complete your return and also rewrap it in plastic for the return to be accepted. You may find this to be a bit of a hassle, especially if you decide quickly that this mattress doesn’t meet your expectations.

With all that factored in, the Endy Mattress is our clear top pick for the higher quality and overall superior results when comparing these two.

Construction

The Endy

1. Micro Quilted Cover – The top half of the Endy Mattress features a stretchy, breathable, and machine-washable quilted cover that helps maintain a fresh sleep environment night after night.

2. Endy Comfort Foam – This responsive comfort layer gently cradles and supports the body, distributing your weight evenly to help promote deep and restful sleep. Unlike traditional memory foam, Endy’s open-cell design is infused with cooling gel to prevent overheating, making it a great choice for hot sleepers.

3. Transition Foam – A transition layer designed to enhance comfort while providing superior pressure relief. This layer also eliminates motion transfer, ensuring that movements on one side of the bed don’t disturb a sleeping partner.

4. Support Foam – The high-density base layer delivers long-lasting durability, ensuring the mattress maintains its firmness and structural integrity over time. Endy’s Canadian craftsmanship is evident in the quality and longevity of this supportive foundation.

5. Temperature-Neutral Foam – Unlike some memory foam mattresses that change firmness depending on room temperature, the Endy Mattress maintains a consistent feel throughout all Canadian seasons, providing reliable comfort year-round.

Douglas Original

1. ecoLight® Gel Foam
This cooling foam top layer offers an alternative to traditional memory foam, which tends to retain heat.

2. Elastex® Foam
The middle layer mimics a natural latex foam in support and responsiveness, providing what you’d expect from an all-foam mattress.

3. Motion Isolation Support Foam
The bottom layer is designed to reduce motion transfer, although it doesn’t fully eliminate it – more on that later.

You’ve probably noticed the Endy and Douglas mattresses are each constructed of three foam layers – one of their predominant similarities. However, in our Spring 2025 testing, our sleepers preferred Endy over Douglas, with the construction of the mattress contributing to the overall performance elements we evaluated.

Studies have shown that a medium-firm mattress promotes better sleep quality and alleviates back pain. When a mattress is too soft or too firm, it can lead to spinal misalignment as the hips and shoulders are not level sink into it, causing discomfort. While both the Endy and Douglas mattresses are considered to be medium-firm, the Endy mattress is also offered in Firm and Plush, allowing you to test and choose the surface that suits your sleeping style and needs of your body.

We found the Endy Mattress to be the perfect level of firmness to help you maintain a neutral spine throughout the night. We can tell the materials used are durable and high-quality, making it a worthwhile investment for your sleep. Its Comfort Foam relieves pressure points and provides a cool sleep surface for a pleasant sensation as you’re drifting off. For these reasons, Endy is the better choice to have a good sleep for years to come.

Comfort and Performance

Author’s Pick
The Endy
The Endy Mattress meets the criteria you’re looking for in a comfortable mattress. It offers that perfect level of support to keep your spine neutral and prevent you from sinking into the foam, while still feeling comfortable enough you’ll want to lie on it all day. It relieves pressure points, so where your hips and shoulders meet the mattress, you won’t get that “digging in” sensation that leads to tossing and turning all night. All of this adds up to a deeper sleep.

Douglas Original
The Douglas Mattress is offered at a bargain price point, but our sleep tests showed that the low price didn’t equate to better dreams, as more testers preferred the Endy to the Douglas.

Motion Transfer

The motion transfer refers to how much motion on one side of the mattress is likely to be felt by the person sleeping on the other side. While all-foam mattresses tend to be better at alleviating motion transfer overall, between these two foam options, the Endy Mattress came out ahead of the Douglas Mattress. It eliminates motion transfer well, so if the person (or pet) you’re sharing a bed with moves during the night, it won’t disrupt your beauty sleep.
The Endy
We found the Endy Mattress had the strongest results for motion isolation. Its transitional layer of foam effectively absorbs any movement, stopping it in its tracks before it travels across the bed. Almost no movement can be felt on other areas of the mattress, so light sleepers can rest easy.

Our testing shows the Douglas Mattress provides some motion transfer elimination, as you would expect from a foam mattress.

Breathability

If you consider yourself a hot sleeper, breathability should be a top factor in your mattress buying decision. A mattress’s breathability indicates its ability to release your body heat, minimizing those dreaded night sweats. The Endy Mattress uses open-cell technology to enhance airflow, so body heat is well circulated. This Canadian-made mattress also contains cooling gel for a crisp feel when you initially lay down. Overall, the quality of the Endy mattress left our testers feeling impressed and inspired to have cool dreams.

Douglas Original
Douglas is fine if you don’t mind:

  • Enveloping feel of memory foam
  • A mattress with some cooling capabilities
After testing both the Endy Mattress and the Douglas Mattress, the Endy Mattress came out on top as the better all-foam mattress.

While the mattresses may share a similar all-foam structure, the Endy Mattress offers impressive benefits and a high-quality mattress. Its firmness is suited to provide proper spine support, its open-cell foam delivers excellent breathability, and it completely eliminates motion transfer!

And it’s not just us who love the Endy: to date, 31,000 verified customers have given the Endy Mattress an almost-perfect 4.9/5-star rating, whereas the Douglas received a 4.7 average rating from 18,000 customers.

One final factor worth mentioning is customer service, which is crucial to ensure your mattress buying experience is as stress-free as possible.
